Abraham and James KAYE
I am researching Abraham KAYE, born 16 Nov 1818 in Huddersfield, Yorkshire (West Riding), England, christened 31 May 1819, Almondbury, Yorkshire. He married Phinetta KILBURN 30 Jan 1842, both of Lockwood, registered in Almondbury.
His father was James KAYE, mother was Mary (Mally) ARMITAGE. Their marriage was on 13 July 1801 at Almondbury. Abraham was one of 11 children born to this couple.
Siblings' names are John - chr. 1803 Almondbury, William - chr. 1805 Almondbury, Joseph - chr. 1807 Almondbury, Walter - chr. 1808 Almondbury, Walker - chr. 1810 Birksmill, Henry - chr. 1812 Birksmill, Harriet - chr.1814 Newmill, Robert - chr. 1816 Huddersfield, Mary Ann (a.k.a Martha?) - chr.1821 Coldhill, Sarah - chr. 1823 Park Gate. The only death I have on the siblings is Walter, buried 02 Feb 1811, Almondbury Parish (LDS IGI).
James and Abraham KAYE were variously occupied as slubbers, clothiers, amd woolcarders.
I have the family on the 1841 and 1851 censuses. Abraham and his family had emigrated to the US by 1851 (1848). I also believe that brothers William and Henry emigrated to Paterson, NJ during the 1840's. Mary Ann (Martha) married a man named George ADDY and emigrated also to Paterson, NJ.
I would like to hear from anyone who might be a relative or who has information on James in particular since I do not have a birthdate for him. By the census ages given, I'd say he was born about 1780.
