Kautz Family Crest
I have installed the color version of the crest im my computer and am able to e-mail it. My e-mail is [email protected]. I have confirmed the following:
Documentation for the Kautz Coat of Arms design can be found in Rietstap Armorial General. Heraldic artists of old
developed their own unique language to describe an individual Coat of Arms. In their language, the Arms (shield) is as follows: "Ec.; aux 1 et 4 d'arg a une chouette au nat.,posee sur un tertre de sin.; aux 2 et 3 de gu. au chev. d'arg. Cq. cour."
When translated the Arms description is: "Quartered 1 and 4 silver, a natural owl posed on green ground, 2 and 3 red, a silver cheveron." Above the shield and the helmet is the Crest which is described as: "Les meubles du 1, entre un vol brunatre." A translation of the crest description is: "The owl and ground of the shield between two wings brown." Family mottos are believed to have originated as battle cries in medieval times.
