Deborah--I know you just "post 'em as you find them", and I do so appreciate your time!I wonder if anyone else has this family? My "Kaufmann's" are proving nearly impossible to track.(There's either one or two "f's", one or two "n's", and even "Coffman/Coffmann" along with any variation at all in papers, bank statements, documents, etc.) In addition, most of them, along with the random name changes, also spent time either using initials or going by their middle names. It is surely possible that "my" Emil's middle name was "Charles", as his brother's son (my grandfather) named HIS son "Charles."I wonder if this "June Ruby Kauffman" is possibly the daughter of Emil C. Kaufmann, 1882-1960 (depending on which document you read, born in "Germany", "Saxony" or "Nordhousen, Germany"), (son of Julius Kaufmann and Anna Augusta Meyer) and Ada Brandes (daughter of Albert and Eliza Brandes), all of Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa?
In the 1930 census, Eda is living alone in Des Moines with her children, under the "Kaufmann" name:
Household Gender Age
Eda C Kaufmann F 40
William B Kaufmann M 13
Ruth F Kaufmann F 7
June R Kaufmann F 5
Jack E Kaufmann M 1
and Emil is registered in at Nodoway, Page Iowa as an inmate under the name Emil C. "Kauffman" This does put this "June R." in the right age for your posting.
I sure would be happy to connect with any of these "Kaufmann" descendants.
Thanks!
