Ken,I just recently started watching the Genforum, so excuse my late followup, and I hope you are still interested and watching.
I was fascinated by your research and your meeting with Rudolf.I too had met him and his family on several occasions but I never thought to pursue our family background. My parents had gone to Rastatt in aboiut 1950 and I guess I assumed my mother had hit a blank wall talking with Rudolph about family connections.I'm glad to hear that he was still living in the '90's.
I am 3rd (4th?)generation decendant of the K's who came in the mid 1800's.Some of your info matches mine, other spots are not, but some other points are facscinating!
It was not, I don't think,George who emigrated in the mid 1800's, but four brothers; Carl in 1854, (whose diary of the trip exists), Frank who came in 1847, and Joseph and Anthony who came in 1849.I had not heard of the Chilicothe connection, but my info is that they(particularly Carl)went directly, by train to Greenville, Darke, OH. Perhaps the others started out in Chilicothe, and moved on quickly.
George (from my info) probably refers to a son of Carl, who became a lawyer in Chicago, among other things. He made a number of trips back to Rastatt to see reelatives and finally in the early 1930's to settle an estate in the family.I had thought the first three brothers imigrated through NYC, as Carl did, but I'll start looking in Baltimore arrivals.Do you know any specifics of the family returning to Baltimore? Also, I'll bet I may be the portion of the family which had moved to the Boston area.
I'd really enjoy hearing from you and seeing what we might put together.
Bob
