Seeking information on Elias KATZ. He was born in New York state in 1855. Was he married previously? Any other children?
Need death date of Elias KATZ (before 1920?) and his place of burial.
He married Maude Annette POSTON about 1900 in ? , Minnesota. They had one daughter Rivka Adna KATZ born 24 October 1905 in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co. MN.
While researching at the Minnesota Historical Society Library on 1 November 2005 I was able to access the partial list of Minnesota Birth Certificates Index and was able to find Rivka's birth information. I obtained a Non-certified copy of the document (photocopy) #1905-35102.
At the top of the card appears:
ALTERED cor. file JUN 6 1962
From this it would appear that Rivka herself or a family member may have requested her birth certificate and at that time gave additional information to augment what was already in the record.
The birth occurred 24 October 1905 in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Not in 1906 in Forest Lake, Washington County as previously thought.
the word Babe is crossed out and "Rivka Adna" printed above the typed surname KATZ.
Adna is a mans name. Rivka's step-father was Adna H. PETTIS. This leaves one to ponder the possibility of Rivka changing her middle name.
The long missing piece of information on this family has now been found. Rivka's father is listed as: Elias KATZ, (occupation) Insurance, (age) 50, (birthplace) N. Y.
Rivka's mother listed only as Maud in the original record was crossed out and Maude Annette POSTON was printed in (age) 27, (birthplace) Minn.
Two other names appear on the card J. M. Graselle and P. M. Hall who may be the attending physian and the recording clerk.
