Died Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Mr. Katz was born October 12, 1914 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jacob and Brandel (Edelstein) Katz, and had lived in Portage for the past 41 years. He served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for many years as plant manager for M. Snower and Company in Three Rivers, MI, and Cairo, IL. He was a member of the Congregation of Moses Synagogue. Mr. Katz was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne "Mimi" Katz in 1995; and by 3 brothers, Samuel, Max and Isadore Katz; and by a sister, Sally Fink. Surviving are his special friend, Selma Price of Portage; 2 sisters, Mollie (William) Stolmack of Oakland, CA, and Minnie Jurow of Palo Alto, CA; a niece, Brenda (Marvin) Segal of Glenview, IL; and many other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. Private family graveside services will be held at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, IL. A memorial service will be announced at a later date to be held at the Congregation of Moses Synagogue in Kalamazoo.
