Hello Marc,

My grandmother Ida Fonkatz came was born in Poland but I don't know where. She was disowned by my ggrandparents for marrying outside of their beliefs! This all happened in 1920 in St. Louis, Missouri.
My ggrandparents names on the census records were Joseph and Lena. THey had other children named Jacob, Mary, Sarah, Anna.

When they disowned my grandmother it seems as though they dropped off the face of the earth! I think they changed their name. Perhaps dropped the "fon" and just went to "Katz".

Does any of this sound familiar to you? I just have to ask.. I hope you understand? I would love to find family members.

Thanks,
Joy
