I am zeroing in around this couple. I believe that his father was Johannes who likely may be the man coming to America in 1738 with Nicholas Pontius. Johannes and wife Anna Catherine Zeller are buried in the Pontius cemetery near Mifflinburg, PA
Your couple (called John Jr.) seems to have lived in Armstrong County, PA. I have his death at 5 OCT 1836 in Dayton, PA. I have not researched this myself, but keep coming across similar information as I look for Katterman and Zeller.
I find a Barbara at www.familysearch.com which I am sure you must have seen, but no other cross references. Her birth is 1753 and in Northumberland, a county that is familiar to these names.
One other is: ANNA BARBARA KATTERMAN, b. September 01, 1749, Tulpehocken, Berks
County, Pennsylvania; d. Unknown.
She is attributed to Jacob and Anna Catherine Rieth Katterman, the parents of the John Katterman (married to Margaret Zeller in 1778). She is not mentioned in the will of Jacob, which I have, but it was written about 1787, and if your couple are in Armstrong County by then, there may be no inheritance for them. Since Jacob's son is related by marriage to Pontius (and Zeller) it seems very possible that their daughter is the right one despite the 1749 year mentioned. I am trying myself to find if I am from Jacob Katterman through John. I welcome any thoughts you may bring to this.
