Hello,
I believe your grandfather Samuel Kates was the brother of my great-grandmother Sarah Ellen "Sallie" Kates Hall. She was the daughter of Hiram Thomas Kates Sr. and Martha Ann Saunders Kates. She had a brother Samuel Allison Kates, born July 11, 1884 and died August 1967. He was listed as living in Media, PA at the time of her death in 1955.
I have some information on the Kates line, mostly Sallie, but some information on others.
