Kusselewsky, 1870's

My great grandfather came America in the 1870's as Joseph Kusselewsky and changed his name to Kassel in the 1890's. In his name-change papers he said that other members of his family had already changed their name to Kassel. We've never known of any other family members, and all we know about him is that his father's name was Chaim, he was Jewish, and he came from the Russia/Lithuania area. Does any Kassel have the name Kusselewsky (or something close to it) in their family background?
Thanks very much.
