KAREN, I just read your reply to Patricia Scripko's posting. I am the grandson of John Kasprzak, who was born in Cheboygan @ 1910-1916. My father is John Edward Kasprzak, Jr. He was born in Cheboygan on Easter Sunday, 1937. They moved to Niles, Michigan when my father was a young boy--sometime in the early 1940's. My father had 3 brothers (Dick, Bill and Tom) and 2 sisters (Jill and Fern). They all grew up in Niles, Michigan (far Southwest corner of the state, close to Notre Dame). My father, Bill, Tom and Fern all raised their families in that town. Your message indicates that your family is from "lower" Michigan. I was just curious to know what part of the state you're from ? My grandfather's brother, Stanley, would come to visit quite frequently during the holidays. I believe that Stanley and his family lived in Hamtramack during the 60's and 70's. My grandmother's family, the Elliots, also lived in Hamtramack, although I believe that she grew up in Cheboygan. Her name was Myrtle Elliot. I had always been told that my great grandfather, Showpern, was the Chief of Police in Cheboygan during the time of prohibition. Ursula would have been my great grandmother; I think I attended her funeral when I was 12 years old. She was buried in January of 1970, at the Catholic cemetary in Cheboygan. (It was 22 degrees below zero on the day of her funeral). I would love to know if you are related to any of the Kasprzaks from Cheboygan, and what part of the state your family is from. THANKS, Dan Kasprzak Notify Administrator about this message?
