Hi Katie,

My madien name was Karpan (Krpan). I found out a bit of info from my grandma... When the family immigrated to North America, the name was spelt different because they needed a vowel between the K & R, so we have relatives in the USA (I'm in Canada) that spell their last name Kerpan. Anyway, I do know that my grandma mentioned the family was from Croatia.. but not really sure of exactly where.
