This is great!! I don't know about the "Col" except that is in GWC Karnes obituary. Would you like copies of the obituaries of Clarissa, George, Bettie and Eugene? FYI: Rebecca Karnes Dixon was widowed and married P.M. Dice (1822-1905) of the Burketown area. He owned the land where Aunt Bexie built "Brookside", where I was raised. She was born on May 28, 1848 and died July 4, 1931. She willed "Brookside" to my grandmother, Jane Jennings Crawford, since she had no children and Miss Janie nursed her for a very long time as she had her mother Alice Cora Karnes Jennings (July 26, 1850-March 29, 1925) and husband, James Alexander Crawford (1869-1929). From which Karnes are you descended? I know virtually nothing about that side of my family. My uncle was named Karnes McChesney Crawford and eventually moved to Covington, VA as a dentist. He would mention the Low Moor cemetery to me but I have never been. I will plan a trip there soon.
