William and Wilhelmine Kappen are my great grandparents. Did you see the article in The Portrait and Biographical Album of Huron County by Chapman Bros, 1884, Chicago, page 336, which says William Kappen landed in New York on reaching America in 1854 and proceeded to Marine City, St. Clair County, Michigan where he lived for two years? I can tell you when and where he was born in Brandenburg, Germany. I don't know if he had any siblings, but it is possible that Herman is related. His name was Koeppen in Germany and Wilhelmine's maiden name was Dannenberg. I would love to exchange information with you.
