My gg-grandfather, Abraham Koppal, came to America sometime before 1843. He married Prudence Newcomb in Charlotte Co., Va in 1844. The marriage bond showed the spelling of his surname as KOPPAL. When he took his Oath of Citizenship in 1855, he stated he was from Germany, near Hamburg. The surname spelling then was KOPAL. After the Civil War it became COPAL. Do you know anything about the surname KOPPAL? Would appreciate ANY clues you could give me about my family origins. My e-mail address: koppal@webtv.net Notify Administrator about this message?
