John,

I'm new at this but was just toying around again with attempting to track down the origin of our family name, Canoose. Originally from Germany, we believe. In 1999, my husband and I visited New Brunswick, Canada to locate the Village of Canoose. We did locate it, the lake as well as the river. So I'm assuming that whom ever the village is named after came to North America from Germany via Canada. Only an assumption. However, I believe that when my ansesters arrived in Canada, they changed the German spelling from Kanause, Kanouse or other spellings to Canoose. Anyway, just wondering if you'd come across our spelling which is similar to Canouse. By the way, both my dad and granddad were John Canoose. Anyway, just wondered if were of the same family somewhere along the line. Joni
