I know for sure now that My ancestor is your Moses. Moses Michael Kanouse was his name and he was in the 7th Cavalry Co#F Michigan. He was in the Civil War and was in Custers unit but left just before Little Big Horn. (Lucky Guy) He retired to a farm in Florence, Ne just outside of Omaha, where he married my G-g-Grandmother, a widow...Catherine Carr Osborn. She had 4 girls from her previous marriage, Cora, Grace, Annie, and Lucy. She and Moses had one daughter Pearl. I have more info if you want it...
ALSO I am showing John Kanouse 1832 and Rachel 1835 who I believe are his parents. I have a picture of a tombstone but no death dates appear to be on it, which lends me to believe perhaps they died elsewhere???

I have been told that when Catherine died, Moses remarried...don't have any documentation of that...just learned it today.
Carol
