Thank you for instigating the Kangas Family Genealogy Forum! I am our family genealogist so I have much information regarding the family name (originally Kangas)in the U.S.

My father, Toivo Matias Kangasluoma, was born April 22, 1896 in Lapua, Finland and died on August 26, 1963 in Mitchell, SD. He married my mother, Lillian Julia (Hemminger) in Mitchell, SD in 1926. One of my sisters and I went to Finland in 1989 to locate information about our grandparents but were unsuccessful. We think our grandparents were Jakob -- or Jaakko or Jakko -- Kangasluoma and "Kate" -- or Katri or Katerina or Catherina -- maiden name unknown, both of Lapua. Are any of these names in your files?
