I have a copy of the Church records for my Korkiakangas family from Alaharma and Harma Finland. Many family lines are included.

The church records state if the person came to the US.

I found the name Juha Kustaa Korkiakangas in these records. He was born in 1881. I found his name on a ship manifest arriving March 1901 in New York with the destination Ironwood. The name listed is John Kangas. I found John and Suzanna Kangas on the 1930 Ironwood census. Listed as a farmer, with 8 children and arriving in the US in the year 1901.

John Kangas had a brother NIKOLAI born Feb 1887, died 1966. Nicholas was married to Maria. Nick arrived at the Boston port from Harma Finland with destination Fitchburg listed- going to his brother John. They had a son Oliver Kangas. I found a 2002 obituary online stating Ollie was born in Waukegan, Ill., lived briefly in Waukegan and Mass.

John and Nicholas had a brother Kaarle born 1890. I have not been able to find any online info on this brother. Church records state he came to the US in 1906.

Their father was Herman Korkiakangas 1857-1892. Records state he went to Canada. Married to Sanna Maria 1857-1936.

I can provide more info if you are interested in this Korkiakangas/ Kangas family.
