I am looking for any info on my great grandmother's family, the Kane Family of Brooklyn NY & Elizabeth NJ. What I know: My g-grandmother's name was Imogene (Emma) Kane born in 1867 (or 1864) to Felix Kane (b 1844) & Laura Mead (b 1848 in ENG). Felix' mother was born in NJ, father from IRE. In the 1880 Census, there are siblings Edward (b 1873), Ira (b. 1878), Willie (b. 1875), and Josephine (b.1880). Imogene Kane married George DuBois, Saugerties New York. She died in 1950 and was buried in Mt. View Cemetary in Saugerties. My ggrandmother would also go to Elizabeth NJ to visit relatives. Since her grandmother was born in NJ, maybe that is where she went. 1) Imogene (Emma) Kane siblings? I cannot find any info on her siblings. My mom thought she only had one sister (Jennie). 2) Who is Aunt Jennie and how is she related to Imogene (Emma). Could Josephine be 'Jennie'? Aunt Jennie was younger than Emma, married an Italian man, first name Joe with a last name sounding like 'Meego'. They lived in Brooklyn NY. Jennie & Joe did not have children. 3) My grandmother gave me a diary back in the late 1970s of Frank Kane, also refers to himself as F.A. Kane. I do not know how she was in possession of the diary and cannot seem to find the link between Emma, Jennie and Frank. Frank had to be a young man (guessing late teens) and the diary is dated from 1889 to 1893. He probably had the diary in Saugerties on weekends & Holidays and spent the week in NYC, possibly working. He writes mostly of time spent in Saugerties with a couple of guy friends and their never ending quest to meet up with the local girls. Do any of these names ring bells? I have searched this forum and although there are some with this name, namely Frank, I do not think they are one and the same. Thanks Donna Notify Administrator about this message?
