My great grandfather, Michael Keniry and b1830 in County Clare, moved to the Williamsport PA area sometime in the 1840s or 1850s and became a USA citizen in 1866. He married an O'Brien who was also born in Ireland about 1830. Someplace along the way the name was changed to Kanary. Michael's son (my grandfather) became the chairperson of the NY Central Railroad union of linemen, brakemen, and conductors (or some such assemblage) in the 1920s and the family moved from Corning NY to Syracuse, where I was born the to Michael's Grandson Ray Kanary.

The most consistent clues I have on family background are these:
1. My Keniry / Kanary relatives came from county Clare
2. The name is related to the McEniry folks from that same area.

I am always interested to learn more about the our clan.
