Hi, The only information that I know about Dean Mayhew's research is what I've posted on the Website.

I do have the answer about where our "Kelloch" name originated. Around the year 1990 a woman named Ginger August discovered that our Kalloch/Kelloch name was originally spelled Killough when the family came to America in 1718. From the Killough book by Zora Killough Cunningham I found out how the name got changed from Killough to Kelloch. It seems that our ancestor Finley who settled in Maine in 1735 went up to Nova Scotia for a while during King George's War in 1745. During this time in Nova Scotia, Finley re-adopted the Scottish spelling "Kelloch" for our name, the rest of Finley's family who moved on to Pennsylvania kept the Irish spelling "Killough". Both Killough and Kelloch are the same name, the difference is between the Scottish and Irish Gaelic. During the 1800's "Kalloch" became the predominant spelling of the family in Maine, with many family members also spelling the name "Keller" and "Kellar," plus some other variations.

I haven't seen any information that would help you make the connection between Scotland, towards Kings Lynn or Essex. Dean found that the route that our ancestor took was from the Outer Hebrides to France around 1580-90, then to Ireland, then America.

Ken
