The odds are good that they are indeed the same Robert Mero Kalloch.

My wife's family descends from Robert Mero Kalloch and Olive Jane Cromwell; see

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~seddon/ps01/ps01_096.htm

On Feb. 21, 1863, our Robert Mero Kalloch was part owner and in command of the bark "Olive Jane" in the mid Atlantic, crosing from Bordeaux to New York City. He was intercepted and halted by the Confederate cruiser/raider "CSS Alabama". After he and all others were removed to the "Alabama" she was set on fire and sunk. See--

Since our Robert Mero Kalloch was also a Maine ship captain, I think you've got a match.

I would be delighted to share further information.

Tom
