Rick: I have lots of information re: the Kalinowskis. Last summer we went to a family reunion in Goliad at an Eddie Kalinowskis. We had a wonderful time, and I met lots of new relatives. Is this the same one. I have the names of the three brothers who came over from Poland, Albert and John came first, and then my grandfather Anton. My grandmother and grandfather came through Galveston just before the big storm in 1900. They settled in Polonia (near Lockhart) which is now just a cemetary. There is a historical marker there with several families' names on it who first settled this area. Apparently, there was a cotton gin, a blacksmith shop and somehow the Kalinowskis were involved, I think, with a saloon, or beer joint. I know my grandfather Anton and his wife later moved to Taylor where he is buried.
My dad, John Kalinowski was the baby of 9 or so children.
I have a distant cousin who is also working on this. Feel free to e-mail me for more information. Let me know. Once a year in October or November, we have a family gathering in Polonia, the cemetary, and then a meeting to discuss improvements etc.
