In my family's histories there is a story that's tugged at my heart-strings, and has become a mystery that I'd like to try and solve. I'm wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone. Moses Kale (s/o Martin Kale and Catharine Kintner) b. 1 Jul 1822, d 1 Nov 1864. He was a carpenter and died after a fall from the roof of a house he was working on. His wife, Elizabeth Jane Pettit, b. 31 May 1829, died shortly after. Their children were taken in by other family members, but it doesn't say which family/members. I have no info on his wife's family, but even if limited to just Moses' siblings there are 10 possiblities (7 more having preceded him in death). They are: Mary, b.c.1815, d.15 May 1883 Andrew Sr., b 19 Apr 1816, 4 Apr 1886 Solomon, b. 24 Aug 1817, d. 14 Aug 1906 Susanna, b. 16 Sep 1820, d. 26 Jun 1899 Sophia b.28 May 1826, d.11 May 1902 Aaron b.24 Jan 1828 Reuben b.9 Jan 1832, d.15 Jan 1897 Sarina b.1838, d.30 Sep 1859 Apalina (Abolinda) b.c.1841 Caroline b.c.1843 Of the children, there were 6 boys and at least one girl. I only know the names of 3: Herman, Harry, and Emma (from my gr'ma's pedigree chart). Harry, b. 1863, came to live with my g.g.g.grandfather Andrew Kale Sr., but he was only 1yr old at that time. He and my g.g.grandfather (and family) came west together, settling in Whatcom Co., WA. Emma mar. a Mr. Sturgeon (from a GEDCOM found on roots web) As you can see, I don't have a lot to go on, and without additional clues I've probably set an impossible task for myself. Does anyone have similar stories in their family history? Notify Administrator about this message?
