Sandi: my grandfather may be related to your paternal grandmother. His name was Benjamin Kagan, born in Lithuania in, we think, 1878, and died in Yorkshire, England in 1988 (109 years later!!). He lived in Kovno until just before the war, when he emigrated to England. Benjamin had four siblings, Mordecai (known always as Max), Schifre-Golde, Yitzhak, and Michel-Esther. He came from a very religious background, all his ancestors having been rabbis for hundreds of years. Benjamin married Miriam Nanes, and they had three children, Joseph (who later became Lord Kagan of Elland), Tsila and Sholly. Sholly still lives, in America. Joseph and Tsila are both deceased, and I am the son of Joseph, living in England.
