Ima Justis, 84, of Bulls Gap, TN, passed away early
Thursday March 13, 2008 at Takoma Regional Hospital in
Greeneville, Greene Co TN, following a lingering illness.
She was the former owner and operator of Jayma Florist in
Bulls Gap for 23 years. She was active in the Democrat
Party serving as a member of the TN. State Democrat
Executive Committee for 28 years. She served as Mayor of
Bulls Gap for 3 terms and as Alderwoman for 3 terms. She
was a member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of
the VFW. She was a member of Nolichucky D.A.R. She was a
charter member of Bulls Gap O.E.S. having served as Grand
Representative to the state of Mississippi as well as
Worthy Matron of Whitesburg O.E.S. and Bulls Gap O.E.S.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
She is preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Emma
Smith; sister, Reba Myers, and brother, Bruce Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Justis of the home;
daughter and son-in-law Judy and Harry Burton of Persia,
son and daughter-in-law, William G. Justis III and Judy of
Gray, TN; 2 granddaughters, Brienna Justis of Knoxville,
TN, and Sylvia Headrick on San Antonio, TX; 3 grandsons,
Rev. Todd Everhart of Frederick, CO, Kent Everhart of
Persia and Dylan Guy Justis of Gray, TN; step grandson,
Butch Burton of Rogersville, TN; great grandchildren, Jake
Everhart of Frederick, CO, Shandi Burton and Garet Myers
of Rogersville, TN; special sister-in-law, Katherine
Justice of Bulls Gap, TN; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to
8 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Christian-Sells Funeral
Home. Eastern Star Services will be held at 8 p.m.
followed by funeral services with Rev. Bill Hughes and
Rev. Todd Everhart officiating. Graveside services will be
3 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 at McCullough-Tieke Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to The Sanctuary Renovation
Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Bulls Gap.
