Looking for a missing link in my direct line, which is: My G-G-G-Grandfather:
John Morris Cox d.o.b. 4/7/1797 1st married Mary Blanton Hawkins. John M. Cox d.o.d. 1851 in Cherokee County, GA.
2nd married to Irena (also spelled Arena, Asena, etc.). In his Last Will and Testament, he named 3 children from his 1st marriage: (1) Elizabeth Ann Cox who married James Pyron (Pyson); (2) Mary Martha Cox who married a Mr. Banks; (3) John W. Cox. By the time John made his Will, he was married to Irena and he stated his then 3 small children who were: (1) Sarah Jane Cox; (2)Elisha Madison Cox and (3) Malissa Cox, for which he made provisions. My question is: Who was Irena (Arena)? After the death of John M. Cox, she married John P. Honea. I can find the marriage records of Arena Cox to John P. Honea. Also, have found the1860 census records where the 3 children from John Cox and Irena are now living with Arena and John P. Honea. I still cannot find any links to Irena's ancestors. However, I did find that the records at LDS Library say that the marriage of John M. Cox, his spouse, is unavailable. Also, I found website where people did genealogy on the Cox family and there are statements that, "the family so objected to John M. Cox's 2nd marriage that all records of such marriage have not been recorded"!! Can anyone shed any light on Irena for me? She was my G-G-G-Grandmother on my mother's side and I would appreciate any and all help. Thank You.
