Born in Bavaria (by Insbruck or Salsburg)Dec. 1862 to a family of nine children on a farm. Father Richard had a peg leg. Daniel and brother John were taught the cornet and rented to a circus band. They fled to America in 1881, was naturalized in Superior,Wisc.in 1897. He was a fireman and also led the first concert band in Duluth -Superior. He died in 1954. Three children.
