Ann,
Many thanks for replying to my message, in anwser to your question YES we are related (quite closely in fact!!).
Your father is my grandmothers 1st cousin, her mother was Florence and he died aged 32 from the effects of the 1st world war which I excpect you know about. Her second husband was Fred Harris and they had 3 children (including a set of twins born when she was in her mid forties!!).
My mother (Ruby) remembers your grandparents very well and even has a photo in her sitting room of them at their 50th wedding anniversary.
My grandmother is still alive although very frail, she is 87 and living in Yeovil, she still has an older sister called Alice, a younger brother called Ben, a half sister - Evelyn, a half brother Arthur, a half brother Tony and a sister Mary who died about 4 years ago.
My great Aunt Alice whom we are very close to was only telling us a few days ago about her cousin Eric (your uncle) because she was born on the same day as him in the same house in Bourton (near Mere).
I can even just about remember my great-great uncle Bert (Albert who married Mary). I was only about 2 or 3 when he died but I can remember a big man in a big dark coat that made me frightened!!
I have a wealth of information for you if you are interested and my mum and other members of my family remember alot more.
I hope that you may have some information for me as well concerning your family that I can add onto my tree.
If you are interested please give me a ring on 01963 31226, or my mum on 01963 33144, and we can always send a family tree onto you if you like.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Julian Shave.
