Hi Keith,
Nice to meet another not too distant cousin on these boards.

As far as the Daniel and Eunice you referred to, I think it's a different one than Marge referred to in her initial post and Marges Daniel is actually the nephew of the Daniel and Eunice you're descended from.

This is how that part of the family tree looks.

Phineas Judd had 4 children. Their names were:
Daniel
David
Elihu
Mary

Phineas's son Daniel also had a wife named Eunice, except her maiden name was Dikeman. And they had the daughter named Clara. (born 1784) (I have it as Clary though but could have been a nickname)

Phineas's other son Elihu had five children...two of whom
were named Daniel and Elihu Jr.
That Daniel married Eunice Fairchild, and that's who Marge
is descended from..while I'm descended from Elihu Jr.

Those two Daniels are oftentimes confused, given their wives had the same name and are both descendants of Phineas.

Clara's father Daniel was also a Deacon of the church that Phineas helped found that I referred to in my other post
and appears to have been quite a prominent citizen in town.
And it appears that several of Daniels line stayed in the Bethel area for quite sometime. Growing up there myself, I knew of another line of Judd's in town and they may have been descendants of his.

In any event, if you know anymore about Clara, who she married etc and her travels, that would be interesting to hear.

In case you weren't aware of the line down to Deacon Daniel,
here it is.

Deacon Thomas Judd (1608~1688)..Emigrated from England in 1633~34..one of the first settlers of Cambridge Mass, a founder of Hartford and Farmington, Ct. He was also a founder of the Congregational church in Farmington in 1652, which is still in existence today. He was a substantial landowner in Central Ct..including many of the towns that spun off from Farmington, as well as in the Waterbury and Naugatuck areas. His homelot in Hartford was next door to the Charter Oak while in Farmington it was on the north end
of Main street, about the third lot down.

Philip Judd (1649~1689)...one of the first settlers of Waterbury (then called Mattatuck). His homelot can be found on the map at this page. His homelot would have been right in the middle of what is now the Waterbury town green.

You'll also notice a road on that map leading to "Judd's Meadow". That is what Naugatuck Ct. used to be called prior
to it's present day name.

Benjamin Judd (1689~circa 1774)...It appears that when Philip Judd died in 1689, Benjamin and his siblings were cared for by another son of Deacon Thomas's..Thomas Judd Jr. He's also on that waterbury map. Around 1710~1715, Benjamin and his brothers and sister all moved to the Danbury Ct. area. At that time, Bethel was a part of Danbury still. Benjamin and his brothers appear to have been among the first settlers who occupied the eastern end of Danbury, which ultimately became known as Bethel.

Phineas Judd (circa 1718~1777)....2nd son of Benjamin. A founder of the congregational church in Bethel and responsible with 4 others for petitioning the General Assembly to split Bethel off as a seperate parish from Danbury.

Deacon Daniel Judd (1745~1820)...1st son of Phineas.

Clara Judd (1784~? )..5th Child of Deacon Daniel.

And, the rest you'd know better than I. :)

Anyways, nice to meet you.

Rick
