MARY JUDD EALS. Only daughter of HAWKINS and ALMIRA JUDD. She was born in Pike County, Illinois, August 23, l852. She came with her parents to Franklin Township, Decatur County, Iowa, in l854, and was married to CHARLES A. EALS October 27, l870. They continued to live in this vicinity till the fall of l894, when they removed to Knoxville, Tenn., where her earthly career was ended July 30, l900. She leaves a husband, CHARLES A. EALS, and two children, ANNIS JUDD EALS and THOMAS J. EALS, besides a loving mother, who is very feeble and three brothers, NEWTON, OSCAR and ALLEN JUDD.
In l892 she united with the Episcopal Church and was confirmed by Bishop Perry in the Church of the Good Shepherd in Des Moines, Iowa, of which her brother, ALLEN, was rector. During her residence in Tennessee, she was a member of the Church of the Ipiphany in Knoxville.
A very large assemblage of grief-stricken relatives and friends were present at the obsequies in St. John's Church, Garden Grove, Iowa on August 2. How well her life had earned this testimony of respect. Her eulogy is her life. Those who knew her best loved her most. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Whitten, of Chariton, and all that was mortal of MARY JUDD EALS was laid away in the beautiful cemetery at Garden Grove.
