Jowell connection to Blackwell
Posted by: Mitchell Date: March 03, 2002 at 05:31:00

Does anyone have any idea or theory regarding the connection of Jowells to Blackwells? George Ratcliff Jowell's 1912 letter states, "we had a relative named Blackwell," and goes on to say this was the Blackwell who had the first hotel in Weatherford. George further relates the jist of conversations he had with this Dr Blackwell and clearly states that they discussed "our early family history" and again uses the word "our" -- "the blood in our veins."

Could Ratcliff Jowell's wife have been a Blackwell (perhaps with Abercrombie blood)? I found the other day a marriage between Judith Churchhill of Middlesex and a Blackwell. Churchhills were next door neighbors of Ratclifff's Miller grandparents.
