Chrystie NOT wife of Ratcliff
Posted by: Mitchell Date: July 15, 1999 at 08:56:23

I am removing Chrystie Abercrombie (as wife of Ratcliff)from my charts. I will be happy to reinstate her if someone/anyone can offer a shred of evidence that she was indeed the mother of his children (even some of them).
All the facts I have are otherwise. She is buried in Dial Cemetery, was married to Martin DIAL, had 8 children by him. True, she married Martin at what I would consider an advanced age, but her sister Rebecca also did not marry until she was 29. AND--there are no JOWELL female children named Chrystie.
If Ratcliff married an Abercrombie, I would suggest she was from a different line than the Laurens Co. Abercrombies. I'm looking at other possibilites, including an Abercrombie line from York Co VA.... AND there is the possibility she was not an Abercrombie at all.
