I also have a James Joss from Aberdeen in my lines. He was born about 1780. His wife's name was Rachael Sandieson. The name James is very strong down the line. I wonder if all the Joss' in Aberdeen go back to the one ancestor. Most of my line were born around the Keig, Alford, Damadilie, Nethermilne area. I am descended from William Joss b.1813 who married Margaret Ronald and then immigrated to New South Wales, Australia. They eventually settled in Central Queensland.
