Just another follow up.I was able to find out more about Lindsey Joslin/Josselyn & his family. It is on 287-289 of the book:"A history of the town of Poultney, Vermont: from its settlement to the year 1875"
This was published by Joseph Joslin, Barnes Frisbie, and Fredrick Ruggles.Poultney Journal Printing Office 1875.
You can find it online at:
http://books.google.com/books?id=lQWbXcCvZCQC&pg=PA23&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=falsehttp://books.google.com/books?id=lQWbXcCvZCQC&pg=PA23&source=gbs_toc_r&cad=4#v=onepage&q&f=false
You can either download it, or just have it go to page 287.
To give a few highlights:
1) His tombstone says Joslin, but he spelled his name Josselyn.
2) His parents had the following children:
Samuel, Jabez, Lindsey, Sarah, Joseph
3) It mentions that all the boys moved to Poultney.Samuel & Lindsey were "iron mongers".Jabez was a taylor, and Joseph was a blacksmith. It does not mention what happened to Sarah.
4) Lindsey married Susan Welsh in 1773.They had six children:
Jabez, Abi, Sarah, Lindsay, Alvin, & Susan. The first 3 born in Sheffield, Mass. The last three in Poultney, VT.
Susan Welsh died when their daughter Susan was an infant in 1794.
5) Lindsey remarried in 1797 to a widow Mrs. Daniel Richards by whom he had two more children:Joseph & Lucy.
It doesn't say in the book, but it is believed that her name was Huldah (Fellows) (Richards) Joslin/Josselyn.
So Alvin was definately a son of Lindsey Joslin/Susan Welsh. However, Alanson, Azuba, Alzada were not.
I would like to know where the info for Jabez Joslin & Mary Lindsey being Lindsey Joslin/Josselyn's parents came from.
