We have never located the ship which brought William Mitchell to the USA. We found the ship manifest for the wife of James Jory (Ann) and the children who came to New York in 1858. James ,according to Raht's book , came with a group of miners to Ducktown in 1854.Possibly he came over with William Mitchell. Do not know why we can't find the record of their passage. My gt grandfathers were William Mitchell and James Jory. Both families lived on Centenary Street in Cambourne, Cornwall. William Mitchell's son , William, married James Jory;s daughter, Catherine, and they had seven children to live. They were Amy Harper,Ida Harper, Oscar, Gertrude Panter, Otis, Willa Johnson (my mother), and Orin. Who are your antecedents ? I would like to know more about the Mitchells and be glad to correspond. My e-mail address is [email protected] Mary Ward
