This John Jones was in Blount Co AL where he married his 2nd wife
27 Aug 1835 Blount Co AL
Matilda Parker, so mother of Caleb is not known.
they are recorded in 1850 & 1860 Chickalah, Yell County, Ark census
Levina's parents Thomas M Gunter & Mary Ann "Polly" Moore also resided in Chickalah, Yell Co Ark at this time
The Caleb Jones b abt 1831 d 1862 was the son of Aquilla Jones & Delilah Dittobased on
1) Aquilla Jones m Delilah Ditto 16 Sep 1828 Morgan/Limestone, AL
2) the age of Caleb Jones son of Aquilla in the 1850 census says he was born abt 1831 and in 1860 abt 1832 and it matches the Civil War records.
3) He was head of household with his younger siblings living next door to his brother Wiley Jones and their parents A & Dilly.
4) He was in the same unit as his brother Martin in the Civil War they joined according to Civil War file same day and place both recruited from McLennan Co TX
The Caleb Jones b. 06 Jul 1827-1918 was not the son of Aquilla Jones & Delilah Ditto based on the following documentation
1)Aquilla and Deliah were married more than 1 yr after the birth of this Caleb Jones. 16 Sep 1828
2) Caleb Jones b 1831 was with his siblings next door to his brother and parents in 1860 census while Caleb b 1827 & Levinia were in 1860 San Saba Co TX census at the same time showing two separate men.
3) information provided by his son Jehu John Jones on his death certificate listing his father as a John Jones
I have the death certificate of this Caleb and the Civil War records of both men.
These men may have been related but clearly they are two separate persons
I have a Jones line from TN to Morgan and Blount Co AL so I have been sorting out all these Jones's.
I have a
Jehu John Jones
b 20 Oct 1823 in Blount Co AL
d 21 May 1878 McDonald Co MO
m 16 Jun 1844 Yell Co AR marriage records
Sarah Pickle dau of Robert Pickle and Nancy Jones of Blount Co AL
according to the history of McDonald Co MO his father was John Jones Sr. then they moved to McDonald Co MO by 1848 according to County History where this John became a Justice of the Peace and was elected Judge.
based on this information it is quite possible that this Jehu John Jones was a brother to the Caleb Jones b 1827 and named his only child John Jehu Jones.
I hope this helps clarify these men. If anyone has any additions or corrections please contact me.
