Jones, Smith, and Lee Families

To all my Jones family members doing research on their
particular family lines, hello! I myself have been leaning
against this stonewall wondering how I made it so far down
the wrong road before hitting this wall! I know I started
in South Carolina and made it to North Carolina but I can
not figure how I maded it down here to Alabama or if I am
really in Alabama. I know this for a fact; I am from the
town of Sumter, South Carolina. I met my mother and father
there as well as my fathers parents, his brothers and sis-
ters, along with some of his aunts and uncles. I know I
have ties to the Smith family out of the Bishopville area,
but have only memories of my great aunt, Eva Smith-Kelly.
I remember some family reunions in the Bishopville area
but all I did when I attended them was fish and then eat!
The Smith reunions they were and you could say that they
were more of the silver-gray haired Smith clan from the
oldest adult to the youngest baby, silver-gray haired
people. I was told it was like that because they were so
intelligent and I beleived it and didn't argue with my
elders. Yes, then I found they were deeply religiously
convicted to their beliefs and not just the Bible, but
then again more so the Bible in a sense. They were the
ones that beleived God had commanded to fill the earth.
That might be why I can't find my original lineage, to dab
blame many of them and they all are kin!! Ran out of new
names and just reused the old ones over and over again
until I became my own granddaddy. The Jones and the Smiths
are united and multiplied like rabbits. They even had a
television show named after the family; "Alias Smith and
Jones". Amd alias they are; so alien I beleive they are
not from where they were found. Can anyone help me with
this Jones and Smith family union lineage out of Sumter,
South Carolina. I know my grandparents were Frank Lafay-
ette Jones and Rosa Lou Smith. I know their parents. This
particular lineage leads me to William Brittian Jones I,
and his wife, Mary Lee. I am seeking William B. Jones I
parents and where he was originially from before he came
to Clarendon or Sumter District, South Carolina. I know
his wife, Mary Lee was the daughter of Anthony and Jem-
immia Lee of the High Hills of Santee in Stateburg area.
Anthony's father was Richard Henry Lee of High Hills of
Santee, Stateburg, South Carolina. He is not the Richard
Henry Lee of Virginia that signed the Declaration of In-
dependence nor or they directly related to one another
that I know of. South Carolina Jones from the Sumter area
went to Georgia and Alabama but this is not a direct line
that I need. I did find a Brittian Jones in the area of
Halifax County, once Bute County, North Carolina. His
uncle Benjamin Jones Sr., moved to Wilkes County, NC.,
and then to South Carolina before moving into Georgia and
Alabama. Has anyone or can anyone help me with informa-
tion that will assist me. The time period dates back to
the mid to late 1700's. Please give me a line on the old
forum and I will answer. Thanks so very much and talk to
all of you when I get back home!!! (lol!!) William Jones
