Jones men from Jefferson county, Georgia
I've been researching a particular line of Jones's that may have originated in Jefferson county around 1800.
My line is a James Jones who I believe was born in that county and died before 1818.He may have been a soldier and possibly died in the latter part of the War of 1812.
He had a brother(I think)name John Jones. John was also a soldier at the same time and I believe both lived in Twiggs county at the time of his death. This John Jones assumed guardanship of the orphans of James Jones about 1823 in Decatur county, Ga.
In early 1800 Jefferson county there were the following Jones men.George Jones, John Jones, Adam Jones, Jesse Jones. All were on the tax digest. George Jones died about 1806 and John Jones about 1808.They may all be brothers.
I believe George Jones may be the father of my James Jones.
I would like to hear from anyone researching these Jones men.
