Thanks for your answer to my post!I appreciate your help.I've been pouring over the information you sent. Some of the info I was aware of and have in my file, but there were a few things that were new to me.
If I correctly understand your post, Tillman Jones was at one time Tillman Parker?Do you have any idea why he might have changed his name?I went the the website you listed: http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.cfmhttp://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.cfmbut was unable to pull up his name {either Tillman Jones or Tillman Parker}. I was aware that he fought with the 57th Regiment, Georgia Infantry but not of the name change on the Pension Index. Still trying to view that. . .
Wondering if that is why it has been so difficult to find him between the census years of 1870 and 1910. At least one researcher has mistakenly placed him in Wilkinson Co., GA between those years, and he was definitely there in 1870. The children from his first marriage were all born in Georgia. However, I know he was in Texas by 1880 and the children by his second marriage were born there.
It's so nice of you help me out, especially since you are not related to this family! Thanks again.
