Isaac Van Zandt Jones; b. 1843 TN - d. 1918, TX
I am searching for information about this man. He marriedmy grandmother's sister, Mildred Reid, in 1912 in Bell County, Texas. He was obviously about 69 years old at that time while my great aunt was 34 years of age. They had 3 children and I.V. (as he was called) died in the 1918 flu epidemic leaving her to raise the kids alone.
None of the 3 children had children of their own. I am trying to put together a fairly complete family tree for my grandmother's family and I.V. is the only big blank. No one living today has any memories or information about the man and I have been unable to trace him.
I feel like he may have been married before he married myaunt and may have had other children. The only thing I have been able to find about I.V. is that he was the owner of at least 3 US patents, 2 in 1882 and one in 1903. He was living in Salado, TX in 1882 and in Koll, Texas in 1903. Both towns were in Bell County. I think he and my aunt lived just outside of Belton, Bell County, on land that was bought by her grandfather in 1848.
Any help would be gratefully received and if I have any information that could be used I will be happy to share.
