Hello Donna,
I don't have any Spears in my files connected with my Jones but then I don't have a lot on my Jones tree. So was your mother born in the Memphis area???
The Jim Jones you mention could have been my James T. and Margrette E. Lucy Jones son Jimmie b. c1921 according to the 1930 census. I believe he must have been a Jr. after his father James T. (Jim) Jones. I know my McKee's were in the Germantown and Cordova area in the early 1900s and some of them are buried in a cemetery called Morning Sun in Cordova...As I put in my post, my g.g.gr.mother was a Georgia Anna Jones who marr. a Thomas B. McKee, he was born in Miss. according to census records. My Georgia Anna Jones McKee was born in Dist. 12 and I believe they were close to the DeSoto Co. MS line.
Do you have any other info. on this Jim Jones and wife and were they connected to you??? If so, then there's a good chance that you and I connect thru our Jones lines. I'm so interested in my Jones lines because they're the only ones I can find who go back further in my family tree that lived in the Memphis area. My maternal gr.mother was a Wood but her family didn't come to Memphis until in the 1890s from Miss. and my McKee's also came from Miss. in the same time period. I wasn't born in Memphis but north of there but lived in Memphis all my life. I haven't lived there though in over 30 yrs. now, I live outside Nashville, TN but all my family is still in that area. I miss Memphis sometimes but it is definitely not the Memphis of my youth for sure, it has changed so much and not for the good for sure. I recently heard via the news that Memphis has the worst crime of any other place in the country, so sad....
My email is [email protected] so you can email me direct there for who knows, we may be cousins, thanks, Kay.
