Jones - Camborne and Gwynear, Cornwall, England
I am researching my Jones ancestors who emigrated from Cornwall, England to Northumberland County, New Brunswick Canada sometime between the years 1840 and 1842.John Jones, his wife Elizabeth and their first four children, Mary, John, Richard and William ("Billy") initially settled in Chatham, New Brunswick but later lived in Jones Crossing, Northesk (Northumberland Co.), New Brunswick.
My Jones family lived in Camborne but their ancestry was in Gwynear, Cornwall.
My query is what John’s wife, Elizabeth’s maiden name was.I have found records from Camborne that denotes it is ROUGH but, for some reason, family members seem to think it is ROWE yet I cannot find any records, either in Cornwall, England or New Brunswick, Canada to support this.
John Jones was born in either 1811 or 1798 in Camborne, Cornwall; Elizabeth was born about 1815 in Camborne.
Would anyone be able to help me sort out this dilemma?Any information would be gratefully received.
