JONES, Calhoun Co., Arkansas Cemeteries
We visited and photographed many headstones of our Jones Relatives in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery (formery the Jones); the New Hope Cemetery; the Means Cemetery and the Newton in the Woods Cemetery, all in Calhoun Co. Arkansas. There are hundreds of Jones buried there. Many of the headstones are in very bad condition and some have already been destroyed.
Many contain much information not only as to correct names and dates but relationships to other family members. Many have reference and seals to the wars they served in.The earliest birth dates I saw were 1736.
In the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery ( formerly the Jones) the dedication monument is for Elizabeth Walden Jones, wife of Joseph Jones from Ga. and the first person buried in that cemetery. The land for the Church which is still standing and the cemetery were donated by the Joseph Jones family.
Some of the cemeteries need finances and care. Relations for this line should photograph the headstones while they can.
Among the names in these listed cemeteries are:
Jones/Means/Morrison/Myers/Tomason/Tomlinson/Newton/Hall
Bradford/Mosley/Mays
