Obituary
Margaret E. Thompson, daughter of the late Pierpont E. and Beulah (Bliss) Jones of Jay, and wife of William C. Thompson, died at her home in Minneapolis, Minn., March 26, 1917.
Margaret was the fourth of a large family of nine children to pass over the river.She was born at North Jay July 7th, 1848.At the age of eighteen she was converted and united with the Presbyterian church in Keeseville, when Rev. H. E. Butler was pastor.
During the thirty-eight years she has lived in Minneapolis she has devoted a large portion of time and strength to the work of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, having held the office of president for many years.She was also deeply interested in home and foreign missionary work and a faithful worker in the Fifth Presbyterian church, of which she was a member.She will be greatly missed by her friends and immediate relatives, who will miss her words of encouragement and helpfulness.She leaves her husband and two sons, William L. and Shirley P. Thompson, all residents of Minneapolis.The funeral was held at her home Wednesday afternoon, Mar. 28th, and interment at Lakewood cemetery.
Those of her brothers and sisters now living are Mrs. Mary E. Bull, Jay; Mrs. Lydia M. C. Bixby, Poultney, VT; Nathan II. Jones, Poultney, VT; Mrs. Beulah B. Tomlinson, Willsboro, and Gilman M. Jones, Minneapolis, Minn.
