Not sure there is a connection, but thanks for responding. My Uncle (after scolding for lack of family knowledge) filled me in on my JW Jolly. He was John Wesley Jolly, born 22 Feb 1834 in Franklin, Morgan Co. IL.

John Wesley Jolly was son of Elisha/Elijah (I've seen it both ways)and Elizabeth Green. Elisha/Elijah Jolly was son of Bourland Boling Jolly and Hannah Pasmore of Orange Co. NC (Bourland Boling Jolly was born in Dinwiddle Co. VA). Unless your Thomas would have been brother to Elisha/Elijah Jolly or a brother to Bourland Boling Jolly, I think we're a 'no-match'. I do have three ? marks under Bourland Jolly before Elisha/Elijah was born, but I do not know if these are unknown names and gender or if they were small infants who didn't survive.

I picked up Jolly in Orange Co. NC in a land grant for 2 March 1790 (a James Jolly) and then more after that. I'm not sure who this James is, as Bourland Jolly's brother, James, has a birthdate of 9 April 1776, too young to be owning land at 14.

I did find your Jolly in the Land Domain Records for Pike Co. IL, Happy Searching!!!!!!!!!!
