Hello Lucy,
Yes, I am still on my Joseph Sasser quest.I thought you might be interested in knowing, my grandfather, Joseph "Early", named one of his sons "Terell", and another son Curtis (for Curtis Joiner?), and two more sons have the name "Early", and both a son and daughter were named "Lee"; all names of towns and Counties in Georgia...Coincidence???
I have over 20,000 names in my family tree that I have researched over the last 12 years, and it is so very ironic that I can't find my Great grandfather's parents.
I am almost convinced that during or shortly after the Civil War, my Great grandfather may have changed his name to Sasser from something else.Another reason I think this may be what occurred also is because his first child, (that we know of), wasn't born until 1874, when he was thirty one years old. The Sasser men in my family are all good looking and knowing of the shortage of available men after TWBS ...I find it hard to believe that he was able to remain single until 1873.So, perhaps he was married before???
How is your quest coming with Joiner-Wiggins?
Take care out there,
Elsie
