I am trying to find information regarding the above mentioned family. This is what I know about them although I will preface this by saying that the siblings listed above may not have known much or anything about their father as their parents separated when they were very young.
Ada FRASER married Archibald JOHNSTONE on 20 Sep 1911 in Restigouche, New Brunswick, Canada. On the marriage registration it indicates that Ada Fraser was 23 years old and born in Quebec. Her parents are listed as Thomas and Jane FRASER.
Archibald Johnston(e) was born 20 Dec 1888 in Glasgow, Scotland. He lied on the marriage registration regarding his parentage.
Archibald and Ada had 4 children:
1) Archibald Harry JOHNSTONE born 17 Apr 1912 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. According to the SSDI, Archie H. JOHNSTONE died 18 May 1989;
2) Euphemia Ada JOHNSTONE, also born 17 Apr 1912 in Fredericton, New Brunswick;
3) Louisa JOHNSTONE, born about 1915 (taken from the 1930 census);
4) Julia JOHNSTONE, born about 1916 (also taken from the 1930 census).
While Archibald JOHNSTONE was overseas with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, Ada FRASER JOHNSTONE and the children moved to Montreal, Quebec from New Brunswick. Shortly after Archibald JOHNSTONE returned from WWI, they separated/divorced. Ada and the 4 children then moved to Philadelphia around 1919 while Archibald JOHNSTONE remained in Canada, leaving Quebec and moving to Northwestern Ontario where he later remarried. He and his second wife, Grace BROWN KERR, had 8 children together. Their eldest son was my father.
As mentioned, I did find the family on the 1930 census (named misspelled Johnson) living at 233 East Gerard Avenue, Philadelphia, however, other than the entry in the SSDI for Archie H. JOHNSTONE, I have found no further information regarding the family.
If you have any information regarding Ada FRASER JOHNSTONE, Archie JOHNSTONE, Euphemia JOHNSTONE, Louisa JOHNSTONE, Julia JOHNSTONE or their descendants, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
