The 1790 and 1800 Census records for the United States only list heads of household. John would only have been 11 in 1800 if he were born in 1789.

In looking at the 1800 Census there are 35 different heads of household that could potentially be a parent (?) to John Stone.

If you can find additional information on a particular county, this might help in your search.
